it's a hard-knock life

since our house got broken into while we were out of town, we decided to add flood lights outside. they have sensors on them, so that whenever our sketchy neighbors go outside, the light shines brightly on their front porch. we have them in the back too, just in case someone's lurking about. we also got an alarm stalled, and i feel like i live in the ghetto as i share this.
we have lots going on soon...
cary and justin are coming to visit (YAY!), and then kristin and walker are coming the next weekend! i can't wait!!!!

as promised

so i promised pictures from the weekend...

we had so much fun!! i'm ready to be back.

it's been a while...

hello again. sorry i've been so MIA! it's been crazy...i FINALLY finished jury duty (thank goodness!), and then john's step-sister got married this past weekend in Nashville, so we went up early for that. we got to take a long MLK weekend and head up to Winchester, TN (don't worry, i'd never heard of it either) to stay in John's friends' lakehouse for a few days. it was beautiful!! it's in the middle of nowhere, literally, and it was amazing to be there together. we just drove from small town to small town and walked through different antique stores. we went on a hike one day in the state park, and we saw about a million deer...i tried my hardest to convince him they were too beautiful to kill, but he still wants to hunt them. good thing he couldn't shoot in the park! it rained and rained our last day, but there is a tin roof on the house, and it made such a comforting sound! we'll definitely have to make a trip back once the weather is warmer and we can use the lake.
we arrived home yesterday around 2:00, and our landlord has yet to fix our garage door openers...they don't work. john pulled in the driveway, i took the keys, and i went through the front door to open the garage door for him. i walked through the living room, and something felt a little off, but i just kept going. after opening the door for john, i went back into the living room and almost had a heart attack. our TV was stolen! it's pretty much the one thing we've actually spent good money on - a flat screen HDTV that we bought before we got married. gone. vanished. the cords were hanging that connected to the DVD player, but the TV and the remote? both gone. i yelled for john, and we immediately looked for anything else that might be missing...nope! that's all they took. well and the three Pyrex bowls full of change by John's side of the bed. it's just plain heartbreaking that we live in such a place. good thing we already wanted to move! now i just pray every day that we get out of here tomorrow...i'll let you know how it turns out for us!
i'll be posting some pictures from the weekend soon...

more weddings...

we just left john's step-sister's wedding in nashville, and i'm so thankful for how our own turned out. lauren's was beautiful, but i couldn't be happier that ours was so small and exactly what we had wanted. we're happy that we could be there with lauren and davis, and we wish them all the best!

already a widow...

so the hubby has been out hunting since Monday morning...it kinda makes me feel like we're hunters and gatherers. he'll finally be back tonight, but it's been so weird without him! granted, it's only been two months, but i haven't spent a night without him since we've been married. it was kinda nice to have some free time all by myself, but i did miss him. i got lots of errands run though, and only had to heat up leftovers, instead of cooking a whole meal for us. going to sleep was the worst. i was literally terrified to go to sleep by myself in our house. that mainly has to do with the fact that we live in memphis, and it scares me out of my mind so much that i wanted to have a gun by my bed, but still...i'm glad he'll be back tonight!!
next weekend is john's step-sister's wedding. it's in nashville, and i'm sure it's going to be a fun weekend! after that we're taking a little vacation, and i can't wait. christmas break just ended, but i feel like i already need another vacation! we're trying to get up to DC soon too, to go visit my sister, and also down to Key West to see my mom...we'll see how much of that actually happens...
to end on a happier note, i get to babysit my favorite baby on friday!! here's a picture of us at my wedding...i could just steal him! that's actually what's getting me through my week. i just love this kid!

thank you!

i have to just write a little blog about my amazing photographer, and my florist! meghan was a dream come true for us, and as i've mentioned, it's been like pulling teeth for me and john to actually narrow down our pictures to 200 to order for our package! she just had her fourth son, and john and i are so excited for her!! she was such a wonderful surprise for us...i literally picked her from searching colorado photographers on google. i spend forever going through photographers, and i finally found meghan, and i knew she would be perfect!! we can't thank her enough!

my flowers were magnificent. john and i met with cori over the summer, and she's the only florist we met with! she was a perfect match for us. she's young and so fun, and we had similar tastes, which really helped! i gave her pretty free range with them...i told her flowers that i love, and the colors i wanted, and she went from there! i didn't even tell her about the guest book table, but she did it exactly as i would have wanted. she's amazing!! she even wrote a blog about us :)

It's the first day back to school, and my kids are watching Bill Nye the Science Guy...life is good! The hubby and I made it through our first married Christmas! It was fairly low-key really. My dad was out of town, and my sisters were up with my mom, so we just had to do his family. We had the big Christmas Eve dinner at his dad and Brenda's house, then we did Christmas morning all by ourselves! It was definitely the most wonderful time of the year! My photographer is giving us 200 pictures from our wedding, which is included in our package, but I can't decide which ones I want! We have almost 1000 amazing pictures, and I have to pick only 200! Here are just a few of the ones I definitely know I want...

Most people know this already, but we are actively trying to move out of this hometown of ours. We're trying to get to Colorado, but since the economy isn't the best right now, it's been a little rough looking for jobs out in the middle of nowhere. If you have any connections, keep me updated!!

a few things about the wedding weekend...

i was so blessed to have such amazing friends at our wedding. i had friends fly in from all over, and our families traveled from everywhere to be with us! we had such a fun time getting to see everyone, and we kept the wedding small enough that we could really spend time with our loved ones. the rehearsal dinner included everyone who was invited to the wedding, and we heard such sweet things from everyone who toasted us. all of our friends went out a couple of towns over, after the dinner. here are a few highlights :)
