we had a yard sale. that's right, i gave in. i used to yard sale all the time with my mom in the summers on the cape, but i never wanted to do it on my own. john's mom asked us to help her do one right before we got married, but we obviously were a little busy. john and i know someone who sells palettes from places like wal-mart, and you get it for next to nothing. so we did it. we stayed up all night getting signs made, and organizing things, then we got up at 4:30 to start setting up at our friend's house by 5:30. then we sold everything...electronics, makeup, and tons of cords and stuff...for a big markup! well big to us. the most expensive thing was like $20 for a cell phone. but we tripled the money that we had in it to begin with. we were quite proud of ourselves! we celebrated by going to bed. i've never been so tired! and now i'm sick. awesome. at least we made money!!
speaking of being tired...i'm about to start my 6 weeks straight at St. Mary's! I'm excited to be there for 6 whole weeks, and as a bonus, spring break is included in there!! i can't wait!

carpenters are the best
so john has been building like crazy! as i'm typing, he is out in the garage making me a neat bowl to put in the middle of our dining room table. he's great! he also made our living room table...which i love! we usually have more than just our guest book from the wedding and our honeymoon album on the table, but i cleaned it a little before the picture.
he also found some amazing old boxes...one held whiskey bottles in a liquor store a long time ago, and another was a box that held keys behind a desk. we've been looking in all sorts of antique stores when we're out, and we've finally got them filled! we've found different tins, boxes, and items from long ago. we also have our two favorite pyrex lids in one. john's grandfather's fishing lures are in one, and some lures that his great grandfather hand made. it's so cool to look at everything.
these are both hanging in our living room (in case you can't see the reflections of the ducks in the square box), and they look just pefect!
this is from a different angle...i love the knot in the wood!
he also made us a bench for the foot of our bed. we've been talking about it, and it would just be so wonderful to have some place to sit and put boots on, or get dressed, or whatever. it's wonderful!
isn't it perfect!? i'm obsessed.

today is for lovers...
so i really don't like valentine's day. i think it's way overrated, and it's a waste of money and time. unfortunately, my darling husband insists on celebrating. i think he's just afraid i'll get mad if he doesn't do anything. well we went to ruth's chris steak house, which was AMAZING, but i would have been just as happy with a home cooked meal by ourselves. it was very nice though, and i love him for doing it...and for a million other reasons!!
we went and saw valentine's day (the movie) the other night, and i loved it! I'm totally obsessed with the soundtrack, especially maroon 5 singing 'the way you look tonight'. love it.
here's a little preview for ya...i just love the song!
our first valentine's as a married couple was wonderful, and i can't wait for many more! there's my sappy moment. i'm finished.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!? i can't. i am counting down the days until march 7th. it's amazing! who knew that target had it in them to get such amazing designers? yay!!

baby, it's cold outside...
it's freezing outside, and they say that more snow is to come. oddly enough, the only thing that gets me through the days is this picture...
i can't wait to be in Colorado. john and i took this picture when we were on the YL ski trip 2008. isn't it just wonderful?? i'm dying to be here and out of the horrific city of Memphis!!
st. mary's, st. mary's...
i've been subbing a lot at st. mary's lately, and i love it! if john and i were going to be staying here for a while, i would totally apply and teach here. the teachers are amazing, and it's such a wonderful community! the girls are fun, the teachers and staff are out of this world, and i wish i could stay. this past summer, before john and i got married, they had a surprise shower for me at school, and i almost started crying because it was so sweet!
that's me and jo...the principal. she's great!
my dear friend heather, who teaches 2nd grade at sms, just got engaged!! and i'm so excited for them!! i can't wait for the planning to begin.

another teacher brought ring pops for heather's girls, and they all posed after she told them she was engaged! i love it. sorry i had to brag about my sms days!

crosby days
cary and justin came to visit last night!! they came over early and we had a few drinks, and john grilled a sausage and cheese plate, that justin devoured. we went to dinner at fresh slices (love that place), and came back to our house and talked forever. cary and i reminisced about our dorm days together, and we talked about her wedding plans. cary always struggled to make her bed, so in honor of her, here she is...
i can't wait for their wedding! it's going to be at a plantation in Mississippi, and the bridesmaids' dresses are beautiful. i'm so excited!!
we are going to dinner tonight with john's step cousins. they live in olive branch, and one of them just got engaged! (that's a lot of weddings...) we're going to cook dinner at home, then go bowling! i hate bowling, but i might as well make a fool of myself in front of family...here goes nothing.
